What personal data we collect and why we collect it
If you are a guest at Rocky Mountain View, have booked a stay with us or have sent us an email enquiry, we will keep your name, contact information (e.g. telephone number, email and/or address) and information about your party and stay (e.g. no of people, whether your party includes dogs or children, length and dates of stay, preferences). We use this information so that we can fulfil our contract with you and in the event of repeat booking(s) (e.g. to keep in touch with you regarding your stay, to ensure you receive a personalised service, and to answer any queries you may have). Where you have booked your stay at Rocky Mountain View through a third party website or booking agency (e.g. Cottages.com), we will have received your personal contact information and the details regarding your party and stay from them, and may share information regarding your booking with them. We may also use this information to improve our business and services and for statistical purposes about our business. We will not use this information for marketing purposes unless you ask us to, and we do not sell this information nor do we share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
If you access the wi-fi during your stay at the cottage, our wi-fi management system may capture details about your device and usage (including device type, IP address, date and time of access and data used). This is to allow us to manage the data usage to ensure that it stays within the plan allowance.
Embedded content from other websites
This website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) or links to other websites (e.g. Facebook). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Who we share your data with
We use a number of different service providers (acting as “data processors”) who provide IT services to enable us to operate our business. Your personal data is transferred to (and stored by) these data processors, who generally fall under the following categories:
- Website and data hosting service providers
- Website analytics service providers
- Document storage service providers
- Email, contacts and calendar service providers
What third parties we receive data from
Where you have booked your stay at Rocky Mountain View through a third party website or booking agency (e.g. Cottages.com), we will have received your personal contact information and the details regarding your party and stay from them, and may share information regarding your booking with them.
We do not directly transfer any of your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). However, some of our data processors may do so. Many of our data processors operate “cloud-based systems”, which means the information is held in information data centres in different locations. All the cloud-based systems we use reserve the right to hold copies of your personal information outside the EEA to hold back-up copies, so they can guarantee recovery. Certain processors may transfer your personal data to countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data by the European Commission or pursuant to specific contracts approved by the European Commission which give personal data the same protection it has in Europe. Providers storing data in the US may be self-certified to the EU-US Privacy Shield which requires them to provide similar protection to personal data shared between the Europe and the US.
What rights you have over your data
The law gives you the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you within 30 days of any request. In addition, you may request rectification or erasure of personal information, as well as the restriction of processing of your personal information. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
